Bamileke

The Bamileke are a bantoid ethnic group in western regions of Cameroon, especially in the Cameroon grasslands. They comprise around 90 small principalities, called chefferie, headed by a Fon who acts as the local lord and is supported by a traditional court.

The picture shows students from a college representing their respective tribe during the National Youth Day celebrations on February 11, 2024. This day is marked with traditional events celebrating the diversity of cultural identities and traditions of the different tribes in Cameroon. The students proudly wear the clothing and symbols of their tribe to express their affiliation and cultural affinity.
