This morning, the traditional Way of the Cross began at 6 a.m. at the parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Mfundi-a-si. The Catholic Christians carried a wooden cross and a loudspeaker system, following the path through trails and one of the busiest main roads in the capital, which directs traffic to the west of Cameroon. Good Friday is a public holiday in Cameroon, but today, unlike in previous years, many shops are open despite this commemoration of Christ's Passion, and people are out early as usual.
