I have been very fortunate to have lived and worked in various parts of the world for many years – 12 years in Cameroon, 5 years in Malawi and in between in Germany, where I worked as a partner manager for a Catholic religious community. During this time, I learned a lot, especially about people, cultures and the challenges of life. These experiences have shaped me greatly – both in my view of the world and in my approach to photography. My time as a carpenter in Cameroon certainly also plays a role in how I perceive light, shapes and structures today.
I currently live in Versailles and am participating in the Documentary Programme of Magnum Photos & Spéos in Paris. It is a wonderful opportunity to develop myself in an international context, refine my photographic skills and engage even more intensively with documentary photography.
My goal is to tell stories with my pictures – close to people, honest and with an open mind for what is happening around me.
What does my future look like? I work as a photographer and want to use my images to help make people and their stories visible. I want to document projects and real life – whether for visual project documentation, reports or editorial articles. I am aware that my visual language requires empathy in order to photograph other people, and I approach this task with respect and care.
Who benefits from my work as a documentary photographer? I support people, organisations, foundations, NGOs, editorial offices and cultural institutions in conveying their messages effectively through meaningful, authentic and lasting images.
